Summary
GeneDx is seeking a high-performing, strategically minded Strategic Account Director (SAD) to drive growth in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) market. This role is ideal for someone with experience in hospital-based sales or genomics, who excels at consultative selling, navigating complex hospital environments, and promoting rapid adoption of genomic testing. This role reports to the Regional Sales Director.
As an SAD, you will serve as the face of GeneDx in your territory—working directly with neonatologists, hospitalists, genetic counselors, and NICU teams. You will help ensure critically ill newborns have access to timely, actionable genetic insights while executing regional sales strategies developed with your Regional Sales Director.
Territory - New York City
Travel as needed, including some weekends, evenings, or overnights for conferences, meetings, or special events. Expectation for ~75% travel or field time.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive territory growth by prospecting, developing, and closing new business while expanding relationships with hospital-based NICU teams.
- Serve as the primary account contact for neonatologists, hospitalists, head nurse and clinical staff within the NICU.
- Deliver tailored, consultative sales presentations to communicate the value of rapid genomic testing for critically ill newborns.
- Collaborate with the relevant Directors of Health Systems to engage hospital leadership where needed to drive optimal utilization of rapid genome sequencing.
- Coordinate with any relevant sales channels representatives (specialty RAEs or otherwise) where needed to garner access and advocacy for NICU sequencing.
- Coordinate and execute both in-person and virtual hospital engagements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth onboarding, test ordering, and timely result delivery.
- Lead educational initiatives for NICU teams, including hospital presentations, conferences, and clinical meetings.
- Stay current on NICU workflows, clinical guidelines, product offerings, and competitive landscape.
- Effectively pull metrics and case studies for NICU clients to continuously monitor utilization and impact to reinforce the use case of rWGS.
- Maintain high field presence and relationship with clients.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales targets, KPIs, and activity metrics.
- Document opportunities, interactions, and updates in CRM, maintaining a robust clinician development pipeline.
- Actively embody and encourage GeneDx cultural principles.
- Demonstrate accountability, strong work ethic, and team-first mentality.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5 - 7 years in healthcare or hospital-based sales, preferably NICU or genetics-focused.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to manage multiple offerings and clinical opportunities.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Able to work independently and manage time and territory effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Work Environment
- This is a hybrid position requiring both in-office and remote work. The employee will work remotely from a home office or other suitable location with reliable high-speed internet access. In-office work is performed in a professional office setting with standard lighting, temperature control, and low to moderate noise levels. Remote work is performed in a climate-controlled environment. Standard office equipment including computer, phone, and video conferencing tools are used in both settings. Your standard work schedule and hours will be established in collaboration with your leader and may be adjusted to align with evolving business needs.

This is a sedentary role with physical demands including:
- Sitting for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day)
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers for typing and mouse operation
- Visual acuity for reading computer screens and documents
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via video
