POSITION SUMMARY:

The Birthday Party Staff team provides high quality and fun events for kids of all ages.  Our Specialty Themed parties incorporate a variety of exciting activities in a positive, non-competitive and fun environment.  Staff must be enthusiastic, outgoing and reliable individuals with good communication skills and a genuine love of children.  Successful staff members come to us with a background of working with children and/or experience in physical education, dance, drama, creative movement, sports, music, early childhood development, babysitting or camp counseling.  Birthday Party staff is only scheduled on the weekends.  We currently have part-time openings for all our booked parties. We can have up to six (6) birthdays in one weekend.  Hours vary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Read party paperwork to ensure that the program/activity space is properly set up, clean, and ready for partygoers.
  • Greets, acknowledges and interacts with members and their guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Facilitates organized birthday party activities and ensures children are active, interested and safe throughout the party.
  • Explains and demonstrates games and activities to party participants.
  • Supervises activities and participants during birthday parties.
  • Resolves conflicts in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensures that event activities are age-appropriate, non-threatening and successfully communicated.
  • Ensures a professional and exuberant personality in order to keep the energy and attention of partygoers for the purposes of fun and safety.
  • Assume any other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training before working with consumers and on an annual basis.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with youth.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required within 60 days of hire (YMCA provided).
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and demonstrated ability to be a role model for youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to initiate projects and be self – motivated.
  • Must be very flexible, willing to jump into new duties at a moments’ notice, and thrive on helping all YMCA programs grow by doing whatever is needed.
  • Must have a friendly, upbeat personality and believe in teaching through positive reinforcement to represent our core values with professionalism.

Skills Required

  • Minimum age of 16
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with youth
