Due to ongoing growth, we’re looking for an experienced stormwater-focused civil engineer to join our Southern Water team in Christchurch.
You’ll be part of a respected team of stormwater and water resources specialists, working on projects ranging from catchment planning and options assessment to detailed design and construction management.
Our clients span Canterbury and wider New Zealand, across local government, transportation, industrial, commercial, and agricultural sectors.
We offer flexible working arrangements to support your lifestyle—whether part-time or full-time.
Ko wai koe | About you
You’re an intermediate or senior-level stormwater engineer with technical experience across:
Hydrology
Pipe and open channel hydraulics
Catchment planning
Water quality treatment
Flood risk assessment
Civil engineering design
You bring:
Proven consultancy experience delivering stormwater solutions across varied sectors
Ownership of your work, consistently delivering on time and within budget
Strong client relationships built on understanding and trusted results
A collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a diverse team
Familiarity with NZ standards and codes of practice (e.g. TP10, NZS 4404, MfE guidelines)
Chartered status (preferred) or working towards chartership
A relevant tertiary qualification
Project management or site experience (advantageous)
