Job Summary:

The Storeroom Business Process Owner (BPO) is responsible for establishing, governing, standardizing, and continuously improving storeroom, inventory management, receiving, and internal material distribution processes across multiple North American manufacturing sites. This role serves as the functional owner of storeroom operations, ensuring process consistency, inventory accuracy, system integrity, compliance, and operational excellence across all locations.

The BPO provides strategic leadership and functional direction to site storeroom organizations while partnering closely with Procurement, Maintenance, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and IT stakeholders. The role is accountable for driving best practices, improving working capital performance, supporting plant reliability objectives, and ensuring critical materials are available to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will balance strategic process ownership with operational execution, leading site teams to achieve world-class inventory management performance while supporting Arconic procurement standards and business objectives.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Business Process Ownership

  • Serve as the North America process owner for storeroom, inventory management, receiving, and internal material distribution processes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized storeroom procedures, policies, and work practices across all locations.
  • Establish governance processes, performance expectations, and operational standards for all site storerooms.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory optimization, process efficiency, service levels, and cost reduction.
  • Benchmark internal and external best practices and deploy standardized solutions across the network.

 

Inventory Management & Material Availability

  • Ensure inventory management processes support plant reliability and eliminate downtime resulting from material shortages.
  • Lead network-wide inventory optimization efforts, including: 
    • Min/Max strategies
    • Safety stock methodologies
    • Reorder point management
    • Inventory rationalization
    • Obsolescence reduction
  • Monitor and improve inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and working capital performance.
  • Establish processes to ensure appropriate stocking levels for maintenance, operations, and production-critical materials.

 

ERP and Systems Leadership

  • Serve as the functional owner for storeroom-related ERP processes and master data governance.
  • Lead improvements in Oracle inventory, receiving, storeroom, and replenishment processes.
  • Ensure consistent item master management practices including: 
    • New item creation
    • Item revisions
    • Lead time maintenance
    • FLM assignment
    • MOQ management
    • Item deactivation
  • Partner with IT and corporate system teams to identify and implement system enhancements and reporting capabilities.

 

Leadership and Organizational Development

  • Provide direct leadership to three storeroom leaders and functional leadership to two matrix-reporting storeroom leaders.
  • Develop site leadership capabilities through coaching, mentoring, training, and succession planning.
  • Establish performance metrics and accountability measures for all sites.
  • Promote a culture of safety, customer service, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Facilitate regular network meetings to drive alignment, collaboration, and best-practice sharing.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and track key performance indicators including: 
    • Inventory accuracy
    • Inventory turns
    • Stockout frequency
    • Service level attainment
    • Cycle count compliance
    • Receiving performance
    • Working capital metrics
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions related to inventory discrepancies, material availability issues, and process failures.
  • Support implementation of Arconic Business System principles and lean inventory practices.
  • Drive standardization of receiving, warehousing, issuing, cycle counting, and physical inventory processes.

 

Compliance and Audit Management

  • Ensure compliance with Arconic procurement policies, internal controls, and inventory governance standards.
  • Own storeroom-related audit readiness efforts across the network.
  • Lead compliance activities for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and inventory control processes.
  • Ensure annual physical inventories, cycle count programs, and inventory reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inventory-related internal and external audits.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Maintenance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Engineering to support business objectives.
  • Participate in strategic planning for maintenance inventory, capital projects, production growth, and network optimization.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to improve supplier performance, material availability, and inventory efficiency.
  • Represent storeroom operations in corporate and plant-level governance meetings.
Qualifications

You have: (required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, operations management, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in inventory management, storeroom operations, materials management, procurement operations or supply chain functions.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading others within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading multi-site operations or business processes.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems for inventory and materials management.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.

     


Exceptional Candidates also have: (preferred)

  • 10 or more years of experience in inventory, storeroom, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced Oracle E-Business suite inventory management expertise.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, APICS/ASCM, or related certifications.
  • Experience working in a unionize environment.
  • Proven record of delivering working capital improvements and inventory reduction initiatives.
