POSITION SUMMARY
Our innovative company is looking to fill the role of Storage Administrator l. Day to day activities include developing and documenting system specifications, implementing and upgrading hardware, system monitoring, maintaining high operational uptime stringent SLAs, coordinating with applications and database teams and other operational and project based. Troubleshooting major incidents and an escalation point for incidents and requests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- 1- 2 years’ experience working with SAN, NAS and other storage solutions
- Experience with IBM V7000, Pure Storage and Netapp
- Configure and tune storage for best performance, following vendor or industry best practice guidelines
- Good knowledge with data deduplication
- Good knowledge with thin provisioning
- Management of SAN switches and associated infrastructure
- Work support tickets, projects and tasks assigned to the Storage Infrastructure team
- Monitor system performance, logs and incidents to assure high availability
- Monitor capacity and workloads for forecasting and right sizing volumes
- Assist in the development of system and process documentation
- Work with internal and external entities for troubleshooting, coordination, and projects
- Basic knowledge across multiple infrastructure technologies (networking, servers, virtualization, tape backup, etc.)
- Basic working knowledge of storage concepts such as RAID technology, tiering, replication, snapshots
- Basic working knowledge of enterprise storage systems and protocols (SMB/CIFS/NFS/iSCSI)
- Data retention and capacity planning
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong inter-personal skills
Performs additional duties as directed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 1 - 2 years of experience as a Storage Administrator
- 2 years managing SAN switching technology
- 1+ years experience working with IBM, Pure Storage and Netapp storage platforms
- High level understanding of physical and virtualized (VMware, IBM PowerVM) workloads that utilize SAN storage
- Strong organization and analysis skills
