We’re looking for an STMS to join our Traffic team in Petone. In this role, you’ll lead crews and put traffic management plans into action in line with NZTA standards, helping us deliver safer roads.
You’ll be responsible for keeping workers, motorists and pedestrians safe across our sites. That means identifying and controlling risks, making sure traffic management is set up and maintained correctly, and keeping communication clear with your crew, site teams and the public. It’s a hands-on role with serious standards when it counts, and plenty of opportunity to make a real impact.
Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities
  • Set up and maintain signage, barriers, cones and other traffic management equipment for the duration of each job.
  • Lead and supervise Traffic Management Operatives on site.
  • Liaise with site supervisors, contractors and clients to keep work running safely and smoothly.
  • Manage on-site traffic-related incidents and emergencies.
  • Ensure traffic management activities are carried out in line with NZTA standards and site safety requirements.

  • A minimum Class 1 Full licence, with Class 2 preferred.
  • A current STMS warrant/qualification (Cat A/B/C).
  • Practical experience working as an STMS and leading a crew.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements relating to roadworks, including the transition to NZGTTM.
  • Strong communication, time management and coordination skills, with the ability to carry out the inherent requirements of the role.

Skills Required

  • Minimum Class 1 Full licence
