Position:              Stewarding Supervisor

Department:        Food and Beverage


Job Summary:   Oversees the cleaning and sanitation of kitchens and bars to ensure compliance with applicable health and safety standards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

  1. Performs supervisory responsibilities such as planning, assigning, and directing work; conducts training programs; evaluates performance; and handles team member relations matters.
  2. Assists Food and Beverage management in collaborating with team members on the design of professional development plans that support their continuous learning.
  3. Enforces performance standards, policies, and procedures relating to the stewarding operation; ensures compliance with health and safety regulations.
  4. Ensures that all department standards are incorporated into daily cleaning services; ensures that items such as floors, mats, dumpsters, trash cans, walls, hoods, and vents are free of debris and clean before daily operations commence.
  5. Maintains the highest condition of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchens and bars to ensure a 96% or above score on health inspections.
  6. Maintains proper sanitation standards of kitchens, including proper working order of dish machines, cleaning equipment, carts, and proper chemical usage.
  7. Prepares work orders for daily problems and conducts weekly walk-throughs with supervisory staff on long term maintenance projects.
  8. Ensures necessary inventory is available, when needed.
  9. Recommends and/or orders supply and inventory items; assists with controlling costs and managing the budget.
  10. Ensures completion of projects in a timely manner working independently or with other team members.
  11. Completes a shift report after each shift; documents shift accomplishments and issues for supervisory review and/or action.
  12. Recommends or prepares and implements policies and procedures.
  13. Sustains a positive work environment with maximum production and minimal turnover.
  14. Posts and distributes memos from other departments making sure staff are aware of important information.
  15. Assists with maintaining the department filing system by filing memos, correspondence, and other documents.
  16. Participates in on-going professional and personal development activities to keep up with trends in the industry as well as for self-improvement.
  17. Participates in the planning of and preparation for regularly scheduled meetings with team members.
  18. Attends meetings that affect the stewarding operation.
  19. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of applicable health, sanitation, and safety regulations as well as the Gaming Enterprise Division’s internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  2. Knowledge of cleaning supplies and standards.
  3. Knowledge of cleaning equipment such as dish machines, pressure washers, steam cleaners, and shop vacuums.
  4. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  5. Knowledge of budgetary principles and practices.
  6. Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and scheduling practices.
  7. Knowledge of modern inventory, filing, and recordkeeping practices and procedures.
  8. Computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  9. Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  10. Skill in coordinating projects and prioritizing tasks.
  11. Skill in exercising independent judgment and initiative.
  12. Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
  13. Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  14. Ability to communicate effectively.
  15. Ability to exercise sound judgment and be fiscally prudent in accomplishing assigned tasks.
  16. Ability to complete tasks well under pressure.
  17. Ability to work safely with equipment and chemicals in a hot, greasy, and soapy environment.
  18. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations pertaining to the position.
  19. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  20. Ability to work in a fast paced environment that may be may be stressful at times.
  21. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  22. Ability to stand and walk for most of the work day.
  23. Ability to stoop, bend, walk, reach objects above shoulder height and use hands.

   

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. One year of experience in a cleaning position in a similarly sized environment.
  2. Must pass a pre-employment Math and Writing assessment test with a minimum of 85% proficiency.
  3. Must obtain valid food handler’s card AND ServSafe certification within 90 days of employment.
  4. Computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  5. Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and punctuality. 
  6. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed.
  7. Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
  8. Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  9. Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid gaming license.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Skills Required
