Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations and the CEO, the System Engineer will assist with maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting the cooperative’s operations technology, including Radio Frequency (RF), Tantalus, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping wizard, and Outage Management Software (OMS).  This individual must be self-motivated with the ability to work safely, professionally, efficiently and independently and able to manage time effectively to ensure timely completion.

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable of NEC and NESC requirements. 
  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering OR 5 plus years of electric distribution work dealing with the operation or maintenance of an electric system.
  • Experience in short- and long-range planning.
  • Working knowledge of the design, operation, maintenance and inspection of electric distribution system facilities.
  • Experience in using Distribution Engineering Analysis software and Power Quality monitoring equipment.
  • Proficient in the development of spreadsheets and databases.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Required to submit a random drug and alcohol test and maintain a drug free workplace.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions performing moderate physical labor.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, managing time appropriately to ensure timely completion.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with members, employees and consultants.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to travel for seminars and/or training.

Skills Required

  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering or five-plus years of electric distribution experience involving electric system operation or maintenance
