We are seeking a STEM Educational Specialist who will report to the STEM Program Coordinator and will oversee academic enrichment programs, science workshops, and outreach activities. This important position will provide high intensity support to help ensure student success in demanding STEM majors.
This is a full-time, grant funded position.
Example of Duties:
- Develop, coordinate, and manage the Summer and Fall STEM Explorers Academies for incoming STEM majors.
- Plan and manage the Spring North Jersey Robotics Competition for area high schools.
- Develop and implement STEM activities and workshops for area high school students and current PCCC STEM majors.
- Maintain current STEM Makerspace equipment (3D printers, laser cutter, flight simulator, drones, VR headsets, Raspberry Pis, Arduinos, etc.)
- Recruit, schedule, and manage STEM Lab Assistants.
- Research latest technology to expand and replace current STEM Makerspace equipment.
- Serve on project management team.
- Participate in project evaluation.
- Provide academic reporting support for STEM Success Coaches.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Math and/or Science.
- Three years of experience planning, coordinating, and presenting science themed educational programs and workshops.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain STEM Makerspace equipment (3D printers, drones, Raspberry Pis, Arduino, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of upcoming STEM related equipment (3D printers, drones, laser cutters, VR, etc.)
- Must possess strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a strong team oriented environment.
- Self-Starter with a passion for helping students achieve in challenging STEM career paths.
- Ability to acquire and deliver data and analyses necessary to meet grant goals and objectives.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The starting salary for this position is $60,000.
