Position Essential Functions
  • Supervise the division’s employment projections team.

  • Lead efforts to use wage record data to better understand Oklahoma’s labor markets.

  • Adhere to QCEW, OEWS, LAUS, CES, and LMI program procedures where applicable.

  • Identify, analyze, and correct (if needed) questionable data.

  • Consult with stakeholders across the state to obtain economic data.

  • Ensure program deliverables are completed on a date no later than set forth within the BLS and DOL grant guidelines.

  • Utilize excellent customer-service skills to provide the best results for the multiple activities involved in the division’s various programs.

  • Work special assignments & tasks assigned by division management.

  • Provide or participate in Labor Market Information (LMI) training.

  • Responsible for supervisory functions including staff duty assignments, scheduling, attendance, support and approval of timesheets, training, and performance evaluation management.

  • On-site attendance is an essential function of the position, as the role requires direct interaction with staff, clients, and on-site office resources.

  • Knowledge of statistical and research theory and methods; of sources of data; of probability and sampling; of data processing applications to data management problems; of visual representation of data; of inferential statistics; of techniques of data collection; of a wide range of analytical principles and practices; of methods and techniques of disseminating public information; and of supervisory principles and practices. Ability is required to produce and maintain accurate data; to write technical reports using statistical software programs; to communicate statistical results; to plan and organize programmatic research projects; to conduct cost/benefit analysis; and to apply the principles and practices of human resource management.

Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires regular periods of sitting or standing and daily use of computer and phone. It also requires the occasional use of office machinery in accordance with safety and security protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of:

  • A bachelor’s degree which includes nine semester hours in statistics, statistical research methods, economics, demographic or social research statistics plus four years of experience in technical statistical and research work;

  • Or a master’s degree in social science, business administration or public administration which includes nine semester hours of advanced statistical methods plus two additional years of qualifying experience.

Special Skills/Requirements
  • Computer Skills – Employee must be capable of proficiently using the OESC’s standard software (Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Teams), and the Internet, as well as proficiency to learn other software as needed.

  • Employee must be capable of lifting, carrying, and moving objects of up to 25 pounds.
