Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Stress Technical Leader to join our Engineering department based in Wichita, Kansas.

You will be part of a team that performs and leads complex analysis for both metallic and non-metallic parts while working in close collaboration with design colleagues to provide quality solutions. Methods include the use of both classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop high strength to weight ratio structures.

Your working environment:

Located on the Wichita State University (WSU) innovation campus is Airbus’ first dedicated engineering facility outside of Europe. Our team of 200+ support staff and engineers focus on aerostructure design including analysis of aircraft primary structures, such as wings and fuselages, for all major Airbus products across the globe.

Your challenges:

  • Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious through application of highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts. 

  • Develops technical program planning and leads team in support of trade studies as well as sign-off for airframe structure. 

  • Provides leadership on any range of complex issues.

  •  Develops information which extends knowledge in a given field. Mentors other local engineers in technical and leadership skills. 

  • Lead major projects successfully. 

  • Able to establish project requirements and set commitments for self and global teams. 

  • Demonstrates excellent listening and speaking capabilities with all levels of management, internal and external. 

  • Represents Engineering at any Airbus activity. 

  • Design research and develop highly advanced new applications resulting in new product/business opportunities. 

  • Utilize technical signatory and develops others in acquiring signatory. 

  • Determine and pursue team courses of action necessary to obtain desired team results.

  •  Lead Design Reviews with Chief Engineering and Technical Representatives to support program milestones 

  • Provide constructive feedback to team members on their performance through informal discussions and formal performance appraisals. 

  • Responsible for the personal development of staff. Identify performance or behavior issues of individuals and take appropriate action. 

  • Actively live the Airbus Leadership model encompassing Individual, People and Business Impacts 

  • Understand technical processes and inform staff of updates and/or new processes.


 

Your boarding pass:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis, mechanics of materials, and/or system design is required.

  • 10+ years experience in airframe structures and/or system installation projects.

  • Exposure to multiple CATIA workbenches.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint) required.

  • Proficiency with G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) a plus.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.

  • Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Dependable, self-motivated and accessible.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)

  • Authorization to Work in the US required.
