Key Responsibilities
  • The Stateroom Steward is responsible for consistently delivering guest stateroom service, cleanliness, maintenance, sanitation, and product standards that align with the Rooms Division's brand standards, HESS protocols, and KPI goals. They are accountable for addressing any shortfalls in product delivery that may negatively impact the guest experience and are responsible for providing timely, effective, and personalized resolutions to guest requests and concerns.
  • The Stateroom Steward also supports the development, implementation, and execution of initiatives in alignment with the Rooms Division leadership team. They anticipate and take ownership of guest needs and requests, and follow up on maintenance issues for timely resolution. They are knowledgeable about ship products, services, itinerary, and port information, and use consumable items, stateroom supplies, linen, and cleaning chemicals responsibly.
  • The Stateroom Steward also takes every opportunity to upsell ship services, specialty dining outlets, and beverage options. They are knowledgeable about the Rooms Division's Shared Purpose, Core Values, and CRUISE Service Essentials, share best practices and efficiencies with the leadership team, and embrace company updates and strategies to deliver on their guest experience commitment. They complete mandatory and structured training programs to enhance their roles and prepare them for career path opportunities.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in room service in a comparable establishment. Previous cruise ship experience is strongly preferred.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Public Health and environmental regulations pertaining to stateroom service. 
  • Proficiency in English, including both written and verbal communication.
  • The role of Stateroom Steward requires a deep understanding of guest service, a high level of motivation to excel in all job duties, and a natural ability to surprise and delight guests while maintaining courteous and professional relationships in a diverse cultural environment.
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a warm, friendly, and caring personality. They will be able to continuously surprise and delight guests throughout their cruise experience. They will also demonstrate a strong commitment to establishing and maintaining courteous and professional working relationships in a diverse cultural environment.
  • A thorough comprehension of the fundamental principles of guest service, coupled with the aptitude and dedication to consistently deliver exceptional service to the guests.
