About the teamThe Public Policy team helps represent Stripe to the public and governments. What you’ll doResponsibilities- Support State and Local Public Policy, which involves bringing together cross-functional groups within the company to spot issues and understand the impact to Stripe, building a strategy to address Stripe’s key issues at the state level, and working with trade associations and coalitions to advance policy issues important to Stripe and our users

- Coordinate Stripe political giving at the state and local level
- Build a strategic network of peers among Stripe users and similarly situated fintechs to engage in coordinated advocacy at the state and local level

Minimum requirements- 5-8 years experience working in public policy, including with state legislative & regulatory issues in a public sector or private sector position
- Availability for regular travel
- Strong political connections in a key Stripe market (e.g., ideally California)
- A combination of political savvy and the ability to go deep into complex policy issues, especially in financial services, payments regulation, and artificial intelligence
- Demonstrated experience advocating across many states in front of legislators, regulators, attorneys general, and governors, including their respective political and policy associations
- Demonstrated experience in coalition building, trade association coordination, and managing state consultants
- A “start up mentality”: a willingness to roll up your sleeves, iterate, challenge the status quo, take chances and learn
- Humility and commitment to teamwork
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills
