About the Role

As part of the Startup Marketing team at OpenAI, you will be a key player in building and maintaining strong relationships with startups globally through scalable programs. You’ll associate OpenAI with the world’s fastest-growing startups through communications amplification and compelling customer stories, helping position our technologies at the heart of the next wave of innovation. Working closely with go-to-market leadership, you'll ideate and execute creative, high-impact ways to deliver value to the founder community—from early-stage builders to scaling startups.

You’ll pioneer new distribution channels to reach builders with differentiated, useful content, and develop campaigns that thoughtfully segment startup audiences based on where they are in their journey.

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with innovative startups, host and attend events, and build creative campaigns that showcase how builders are using OpenAI technologies. You’ll be at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and entrepreneurial spirit, shaping the future of technology and helping represent OpenAI in both 1:many and 1:1 settings. Your work will directly impact OpenAI’s mission of ensuring that artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. This role is also expected to travel 10-15% of the time.

In this role, you will:

• Partner with leading startups to deliver VIP programs and tailored experiences that help them get the most out of OpenAI and evangelize our models.

• Collaborate with leadership on big-bet initiatives to accelerate high-potential builders early in their journey.

• Identify and launch new distribution channels that provide differentiated value to founders beyond core model access.

• Work cross-functionally with comms to craft narratives that scale through media, executive storytelling, and ecosystem touchpoints.

• Translate API launches into startup-friendly insights by working with solutions architects to distill product updates into actionable guidance.

• Develop sales enablement content for startup GTM, supporting VC briefings, founder-facing events, and industry activations.

• Build and maintain VC relationships to drive founder introductions and strengthen credibility across the startup ecosystem.

• Foster a vibrant startup community by gathering feedback and turning insights into product and GTM improvements.

You might thrive in this role if you:

• A former founder or someone with experience operating in the high-growth startup community

• 4+ years of B2B marketing experience or equivalent work at high-growth startup

• Ability to handle ambiguity and and fast-moving environments

• Hands on “technologist” who is natively curious about new technology and software 

• A passion for content creation, with comfort in writing, video and social marketing

• Ability to build relationships, with a knack for aligning cross-functional teams and timelines

• Detail oriented and responsive; you’ll be working with a wide range of stakeholders looking to get insights from the OpenAI team

• Passionate about the transformative potential of AI, and considerate of its societal implications
