Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with stage, artistic, and technical staff to produce high-quality work on tight timelines.
- Perform a range of stage management duties, including calling performances as lead SM, assisting by running the deck, calling follow-spots, or providing coverage as required.
- Run rehearsals with careful attention to schedule constraints, contracts, breaks, and artistic goals.
- Generate and maintain clear, accurate paperwork to ensure the smooth operation of all productions.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of Stage Management experience in an opera company.
- Must read music fluently.
- Strong computer literacy.
- High attention to detail and strong work ethic.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating instructions to large groups.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, manage stairs without handrails, work on uneven surfaces, and read in low-light conditions.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs., hear, listen, and read.
- Must live in or be willing to relocate to the New York City area.
- A sense of humor is highly valued.
