Job Title: Staffing Coordinator (LPN/RN)
Department: Nursing
Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON) / Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
The Staffing Coordinator (LPN/RN) is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining staffing schedules to ensure adequate nursing coverage for quality resident care. This role collaborates with nursing leadership to meet staffing needs, maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, and support efficient workforce management. The Staffing Coordinator also serves as a licensed nurse and may provide clinical support as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly nursing staff schedules.
- Coordinate staffing for all nursing departments, including CNAs, LPNs, and RNs.
- Arrange coverage for call-offs, vacations, leaves of absence, and emergencies.
- Maintain staffing levels in accordance with facility census, acuity, and regulatory requirements.
- Contact off-duty staff and agency personnel when necessary to fill open shifts.
- Monitor overtime and labor costs while ensuring safe staffing levels.
- Maintain accurate attendance, scheduling, and payroll-related records.
- Verify employee credentials, licenses, certifications, and required training.
- Communicate staffing updates to department managers and nursing supervisors.
- Assist with orientation scheduling for new employees.
- Support employee retention through fair scheduling practices.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility staffing regulations.
- Participate in staffing meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and resident information.
- Perform direct nursing duties as assigned during staffing shortages or emergencies.
- Additional duties assigned by DON or Administrator
- Thorough understanding of nursing staffing requirements and long-term care regulations.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and staff.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted LPN or RN license in the state of Alabama.
- Long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred.
- Previous staffing or scheduling experience preferred.
- Knowledge of staffing software and electronic health records.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to use computers, telephones, and office equipment for extended periods.
- May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, or provide on-call staffing support.
Skills Required
