What we are looking for
Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all.
We're searching for a Staff Technical Program Manager to support our Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) and Vehicle Integration Teams (VIT). As our hardware roadmap has grown in scale and complexity, we need a TPM to serve as the "connective tissue" between electrical design and physical implementation — spanning the full product lifecycle and engaging across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and operations. This is a high-impact role where you'll drive cross-functional execution on some of Aurora's most critical programs. The role sits within the Hardware Product Engineering (HPE) organization and reports through VIT TPM leadership.
In this role you will
- EDS Leadership: Engage with HPE and cross-functional development teams to ensure EDS work is reflected in program schedules and that all prerequisite materials are delivered on time.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Engage with HPE and cross-functional development teams to ensure EDS is represented, accounted for in program planning, and that all prerequisite materials are delivered on time.
- First Article Development: Act as the primary liaison for internal “first article” harness builds and help advise on build priorities across the portfolio. Solicit redline feedback and ensure it’s incorporated into designs.
- External Fabrication Support: Partner with supply chain, quality, and our external suppliers to align on design releases, build plans, identify material bottlenecks, and establish implementation schedules.
- Risk Management: Guide the engineering team through planning and execution of EDS risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate program risks.
- Design Control: Lead EDS focused engineering change control board (CCB) submissions from initiation through incorporation and support the documentation/activities associated with final safety case closure.
- Operational Excellence: Look for opportunities to standardize and streamline team processes and ways of working. For example, standardizing how the team tracks work through the development lifecycle.
Required qualifications
- 5 Years + experience managing complex hardware development programs leveraging cross-functional resources in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality
- Proven ability to build and maintain program control documentation including integrated master schedules, risk registers, resource plans, and budgets
- Experience executing engineering change management processes
- Proficiency with program and task management tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira, and Confluence.
- Ability to be located in Pittsburgh, PA.
- Ability to travel, up to 20%
Desirable qualifications
- Deep familiarity with electrical distribution systems, harness architecture, and the associated design and release process.
- Experience leading programs and system development within the automotive or similar safety critical industries
- Experience with electrical verification and reliability testing
- Experience leading organizational change and/or implementing process improvement initiatives
- Certified in project or program management (PMP, PgMP) or equivalent
The base salary range for this position is $163,000 - $236,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
