Staff Tax Accountant

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Senior Tax Associate will play a key role in supporting the tax function at Dream Finders Homes. The primary role is to provide assistance to the Tax Director with the Company's tax compliance, tax planning and associated financial reporting. This role will be involved in assisting in coordinating tax filings across multiple jurisdictions, maintaining accurate tax records, and collaborating with external service providers. The position will be integral to the company's rapid growth and will have opportunities to assist in more complex tax matters as efficiencies are developed. The role provides direct exposure to both day-to-day tax operations and larger tax strategies, with potential to take on more complex responsibilities under the guidance of the Tax Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and year-end tax provision, including computation of book-to-tax differences, and state calculations.
• Assist with tax compliance and planning processes, including preparing workpapers and reviewing tax forms prepared by external service providers.
• Assist with managing and preparing property and sales tax filings and maintaining the tax calendar. Regularly coordinate with local divisions and external service providers to ensure efficient and timely filings.
• Research federal and state tax issues and prepare responses to tax notices from various taxing jurisdictions.
• Contribute to tax planning projects, special assignments and tax policies.
• Assist with tax-related data research and advisory on new legislation or transactions.
• Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements, streamlining procedures, and maintaining tax data records to enhance efficiency.
• Assist in maintaining effective controls over tax-related procedures
• Build relationships with key members of the Corporate Office (Accounting, Treasury, Legal) and local divisions.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE:

• Highly self-motivated individual with a desire to grow in their career
• Demonstrates strong sense of accountability and attention to detail
• Bachelor's degree in taxation, finance, accounting or a similar field.
• 4 years of public accounting experience (including ASC 740 and partnership tax)
• Exceptional communication skills -- both written and verbal
• Strong organizational skills and time management skills
• Ability to collaborate and partner with various stakeholders

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
