Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Systems Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Flight Test organization. This role is located in Palmdale, CA.
This role operates as a SME, directly contributing to the development of test plans, test schedules, and test procedures and support for integration testing. The role will also assist in serving as the subject matter focal point to interface with internal and external organizations to develop test and test data requirements.
The primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Provide test execution support and make real-time decisions regarding safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of test article.

Participate in post-test data evaluation and discrepancy resolution to optimize test program performance to achieve EMD objectives.

Author detailed test plans, system checkout procedures, and system test request documents ensuring accurate requirements flow down.

Serve as an SME on payload systems, ensuring technical adequacy during planning and execution
-
Coordinate with other IPTs to identify and allocate test resources while mitigating risk/issues for seamless test flow.

Provide mission control room support making real-time decisions on system safety and performance.

Support and host test planning working groups.

Basic Qualifications:
-
14 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in STEM; 12 Years with Masters in STEM; 9 years with a Ph.D. in STEM

Current Active DoD Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access prior to start is required.
-
Requires comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices required to accomplish complex tasks with high-quality solutions and proficiency.

Experience developing detailed data management and analysis plans assessing system effectiveness of test articles.

Must have working knowledge of and experience with systems and payloads.
-
In depth knowledge of test experience, to include mission control room operations.

Occasionally available to work odd shifts to include nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience leading strategic planning meetings with external customer technical representatives, responsible engineers, and program management.

History of utilization of system engineering practices to ensure interoperability across multiple delivery and guidance platforms.

Background operating hardware-in-the-loop terminals during critical integration demonstrations of guidance algorithms
-
Familiarity with operational air-to-air test operations, including planning, cost, schedule, and execution.
Salary Range: $149,900.00 - $224,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
