Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Systems Test Engineer – Level 5 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals, serving as the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon Systems (GWS) GMD Fire Control (GFC) Lead Test Engineer. This position is in Huntsville, AL.
Position Overview:
The selected Staff Systems Test Engineer – Level 5 will support the GFC Product as the Lead Test Engineer. As Lead Test Engineer, they will provide technical leadership and oversight to testing of the GFC product, will be responsible for planning testing efforts, resolve technical issues for the team, and additional responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct ground and flight test activities for Missile Defense Systems.
- Lead testing activities by integrating test planning and execution of software builds to support system level testing.
- Generate reports and documentation using Microsoft Office Suite products such as Excel and Word.
- Work in a technical team environment characterized by frequently changing tasks and new priorities requiring quick responses.
- Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish test and project results with limited oversight and direction.
- Estimate testing to be done and acquire necessary resources to complete in a timely manner.
- Must be able to work across multiple Integrated Product Teams to maintain situational awareness and inform stakeholders.
- Develop and implement data management strategies and policies.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across all platforms.
- Manage data collection procedures and maintain comprehensive data documentation.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 10 years of related work experience, or 8 years of experience with a PhD.
- Experience with software test planning, test integration, test execution, and monitoring
- 5 years of experience in missile defense ground and flight test.
- Direct experience leading teams in a ground and flight test environment
- Familiar with reading, writing, and execution of test plans and test procedures.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience testing software for performance, functionality, and behavior based on system requirements.
- Detailed knowledge of Linux and Windows environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively to program leadership regarding system performance.
- Experience with configuration management tools: Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jira, Jenkins, or others
- Working knowledge of development languages: C++, Python, Ada, JAVA, HTML, or others
- Must be able to support working in a closed area, in-office position.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
