Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Requirements and Verification - Staff Systems Engineer to join our team of diverse, talented individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role can be located in either San Diego, El Segundo, or Palmdale, CA.
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, and test engineers to ensure all products meet technical specifications and customer requirements. Success in this role often requires the ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment while simultaneously being action-oriented, with a strong attention to detail, and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Verification Planning & Execution:
- Develop Plans: Author Requirement Verification Plans (RVPs) and System Test & Verification Plans for each Integrated Functional Capability (IFC).
- Coordinate Approvals: Lead technical reviews and secure cross-functional approval for verification methods within the RVP.
- Collect Data: Review Verification Data Products from System Test to confirm they meet the intent and scope of the specification.
- Author Reports: Create Requirement Verification Reports (RVRs) and System Test & Verification Reports to formally close out IFC activities.
- Manage Customers: Coordinate internal and cross-IPT reviews of RVRs, and manage the customer comment and approval process.
Engineering & Test Collaboration
- Partner with SMEs: Work with Subject Matter Experts and Responsible Engineers to gather analysis and data for Analysis or Inspection verification methods.
- Review Test Procedures: Collaborate with System Test engineers to develop test procedures, ensuring accurate interpretation of requirements.
- Lead Peer Reviews: Participate in test procedure and system verification peer reviews to maintain high product quality.
- Adjudicate Findings: Analyze and resolve test findings based on a deep understanding of intended system behaviors.
System Definition & Integration Support
- Define Features: Author use cases, technical requirements, and feature acceptance criteria for system definitions and Discrepancy Reports (DRs).
- Investigate Issues: Analyze early findings and anomalies to determine potential impacts on core system requirements.
- Coordinate Readiness: Align with Responsible Engineers and System Test teams to ensure integrated functions are mature enough for formal testing.
This position will be require full-time, on-site work at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 10% may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor of science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field and 12 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master of science degree in a STEM field and 10 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a PhD and 8 years of relevant military / professional experience
- Must have an active US Government Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
- Must have experience supporting Systems Engineering Milestones SRR, PDR and CDR.
- Must have experience in the full lifecycle of Systems Engineering, including requirements decomposition, test planning, requirements verification and requirements management.
- Must have experience in requirements and verification management in DOORS.
- Must have experience with requirement decomposition and traceability from System to Unit/Supplier Specifications.
- Must have experience with managing suppliers with technical requirements and verification expectations.
- Must have experience leading a technical team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
- Experience in ICD development and integration
- Experience with multiple disciplines across Systems Engineering, incl. requirements, integration, technical configuration management (CM or Technical Baseline), cyber
- Experience with Agile Design Methodology
- Experience with software development.
- Experience with HW/SW integration testing.
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment software development
Skills Required
