Job Summary & Responsibilities
Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Staff Metrology Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration, and optimization of metrology systems used in semiconductor inspection and measurement. This role involves cross-disciplinary collaboration to develop high-precision systems that combine optics, motion control, software, and data analytics. You will be responsible for system-level architecture, performance modeling, and validation of metrology platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Lead system-level design and integration of metrology platforms, ensuring alignment of optical, mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems.
- Develop and refine measurement algorithms and calibration procedures to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
- Perform system modeling, simulation, and performance analysis to guide design decisions.
- Collaborate with R&D, product management, and customer teams to define system requirements and specifications.
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of complex system-level issues.
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation in lab and cleanroom environments.
- Drive continuous improvement in system performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership across projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in semiconductor metrology or precision instrumentation.
- Strong understanding of optics, sensors, motion control, and signal processing.
- Experience with system modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Zemax, COMSOL).
- Familiarity with cleanroom standards and semiconductor manufacturing environments.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical teams.
- Experience with optical metrology techniques (e.g., interferometry, scatterometry, ellipsometry).
- Background in data analysis and algorithm development for measurement systems.
- Knowledge of SEMI standards and system-level reliability engineering.
- Hands-on experience with system integration and validation in lab settings.
