Stryker is hiring a Staff Systems Engineer, Product Owner for our Endoscopy division to help define and deliver innovative surgical visualization and operating room integration solutions. In this role, you will translate product vision into clear, compliant system and software requirements, partnering closely with Systems Engineering, UX, R&D, and Marketing. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior Product Owner who excels in complex, regulated environments and wants to make a meaningful impact on high‑quality medical technology.
Workplace flexibility: Candidate must reside within a commutable distance to either San Jose, CA or Flower Mound, TX but is expected to be onsite at the facility multiple times per week.
What You Will Do:
Convert product vision and strategy into clear system, functional, and technical requirements.
Uphold Agile and Scrum principles, owning and prioritizing the product backlog to maximize customer and business value.
Develop and refine user stories, workflows, logic diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes in collaboration with UX and engineering.
Write crisp, unambiguous user stories, technical tasks, and clear acceptance criteria that serve as the final definition of "done" for all delivered increments.
Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and feature complete review sessions.
Identify dependencies, risks, and constraints; proactively remove impediments to support sprint and release goals.
Act as a liaison between marketing, customers/end‑users, systems engineering, software, hardware, and quality teams.
Produce product and system‑level documentation to support releases, training, and internal alignment as required.
Serve as a senior product owner, guiding and mentoring junior product owners where required.
Own the prioritization framework and make high-stakes trade-offs across scope, schedule, and resources to maximize Return on Investment (ROI) and customer value.
What You Need:
Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Product Owner, with demonstrated success working in software‑centric or systems‑based environments, including complex, integrated systems within regulated or highly structured development settings.
Strong experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, backlog management, and release planning.
Proficiency in defining system‑level requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
Familiarity with SAFe, SDLC, and product lifecycle management processes.
Preferred:
Experience in medical devices, healthcare technology, or other regulated industries.
Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and/or Scrum Master (CSM) certification.
Experience supporting change management across complex organizations.

USN: $89,300 - $148,800 USD Annual
US30: $116,100 - $193,400 USD Annual
