Job DescriptionVisa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff SW Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, Texas to:
- Design code and systems for scalability, security, and reusability.
- Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings.
- Actively contribute to product quality improvements, valuable service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads.
- Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutions.
- Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later Technology.
- Works with product owners to gather and refine requirements for one product, adding and taking into account existing tools and solutions across departments.
- Develops and designs moderately advanced architect solutions that are robust and scalable, considering integrations with other solutions across the internal technical ecosystem.
- Provides domain expertise on the development of user documentation of solutions and implements standard processes in user documentation.
- Plays a significant role in the development and delivery of new features within a product from end-to-end.
- Position requires up to 10% domestic and international travel.
- Position reports to the Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Basic Qualifications:
- Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineering-related occupation. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineering-related occupation.
- Position requires experience in the following:
- Developing front-end code (e.g. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) in support of package and product development.
- User interface design, including how to provide optimal industrial design experience.
- Developing back-end (e.g. Python, Java) code in support of package and product development.
- Developing and utilizing Application Program Interfaces (APIs), protocols, and tools for building software applications.
- Using database software (e.g., applications, web-based applications, information systems) to maintain, modify, and output data.
- Applying systems integration process, including separately combining components and subsystems to address interactions.
- Data structures, including data organization, management, and storage formats that enable efficient access and modifications.
- Developing large scale, enterprise class distributed system or subsystems that require high availability, low latency, & strong data consistency computing.
- Distributed caching technologies like Redis.
Worksite: Austin, Texas
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Travel Requirements: Position requires up to 10% domestic and international travel.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is $163,550.00 to $210,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
