The Staff Supplier Development Engineer, Reagents role is responsible for being the technical expert on supplier related information within the Technical Operations organization, supporting the assay core team by assessing supplier capabilities and providing input to new supplier selection, evaluation, and development, to improve business alignment between the Supplier and Cepheid, and to ultimately add value to Cepheid through improved supplier performance.
In this role you will have the opportunity to learn and develop through team project work, supplier visits, and a variety of internal training opportunities.
This position is part of the Technical Operations Supplier Development Team and will be located in Solna, Stockholm, Sweden. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

• Create or develop specifications and control plans for new critical parts. Participate in first article inspections, measurement system analysis, and statistical process control as required.
• Identify secondary sources for new critical parts.
• Interface between suppliers and internal teams for supplier issues related to specifications/performance.
• Review, approve, and release change orders related to suppliers.
• Identify, quantify, prioritize, and drive supplier improvement projects including supplier recommended design changes to internal teams.
• Evaluate technical capabilities at supplier sites and qualify suppliers based on selection criteria and provide feedback and update internal supplier selection and qualification processes
• Lead and mentor junior engineers or functional teams for troubleshooting supplier issues
   

The essential requirements of the job include:

• University Degree in Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical engineering, Chemical engineering or related
• 3+ years of demonstrated experience working directly with internal functional organizations and suppliers on a regular basis.
• Must be willing and able to travel to supplier locations (up to 20% of the time)
• 2 + years experience in understanding manufacturing processes and controls
• 2+ years experience with understanding and refining specifications
• Fluent level of English
   

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in

• Ability to read and interpret product Bill of Materials (BOM's) and engineering drawings
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Power Point, Agile, and SAP
