About the role

The permanent part-time (up to 0.8 FTE / 32 hours per week) role of Staff Specialist Palliative Care works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure that the Braeside Hospital Palliative Care service functions in a way that aligns with the Mission, Vision and Mission-in-Action of HammondCare and ensures that the medical and other care provided to patients is of high quality.

HammondCare is a NSW Health-affiliated organisation all NSW Health transferrable entitlements will be recognised.


Duties include:
  • Provide demonstrably high-quality specialist Palliative Care services to patients in the South-West Sydney Local Government Area

  • To maintain personal professional competence in Palliative Care

  • To work within healthcare teams and with other senior medical staff in a cooperative and collegiate way, evidencing the Mission, Motivation and Mission-in-Action of HammondCare

  • Undertake teaching of medical students and trainee doctors and undertake research in Palliative Care as opportunities present.


About you
  • Registered (or registerable) as a Specialist Medical Practitioner in Palliative Care Medicine in Australia (AHPRA)  

  • FRACP or FAChPM or equivalent Consultant qualification.

  • Credentialed experience in multidisciplinary specialist practice in inpatient, consultative, clinic and community settings

  • Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team

  • Organisational ability, both personal organisation and ability to supervise

  • Willingness to participate in teaching and research projects

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • Research Qualification (desirable)
