Join Us at Pura—Reimagining Fragrance for the Future

At Pura, we believe life is better when it smells good. Fragrance has the unique power to transform spaces, elevate moods, and create lasting memories. But we know it can do even more. That's why we're pioneering the future of fragrance, combining cutting-edge smart home technology with premium, clean scents to create personalized, meaningful experiences in every home.
We're not just a fragrance company—we're on a mission to change the way people experience scent. At Pura, we are redefining fragrance as a critical element of design, on par with color, texture, sound, lighting, and furniture.

Why Join Pura?
Our journey began with two innovators, Richie Stapler and Bruno Lima, and their shared vision of revolutionizing how we experience fragrance. Since then, Pura has grown into a company that sells a fragrance every 3.7 seconds, partnering with iconic brands like Curio, Anthropologie, and Disney. We've been recognized as the Fastest Growing Company in Utah, and we are passionate about making scent a core part of life's most memorable moments.

Your Role at Pura:

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Operational Excellence team, where you'll own the technical strategy and roadmap for Pura's end-to-end supply chain platform, spanning order management, inventory allocation, warehouse integration, and shipment tracking. This is a domain leadership role: you set the technical direction, define the architecture, and are ultimately accountable for the health and evolution of the systems within your domain.

You'll operate at the intersection of deep technical ownership and cross-functional influence, partnering closely with business stakeholders and executive leadership to translate business needs into sound technical decisions and technical tradeoffs into clear recommendations that non-engineers can act on. You'll work closely with a small, high-impact engineering team, raising the technical bar through design leadership, hands-on code, and mentorship.

This role is for someone who sees the technical and the business not as two separate worlds, but as the same problem viewed from different angles.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in backend engineering with a demonstrated track record of technical leadership across teams or domains
  • Expert-level proficiency in Golang and/or other modern backend languages (Node, Python, etc.)
  • Deep expertise designing and operating high-scale distributed systems; proven ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems
  • Strong command of service-oriented architecture, API strategy, and event-driven architectures at scale
  • Expert-level AWS (or comparable cloud) knowledge, including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
  • Deep expertise in relational database design and optimization (PostgreSQL preferred), caching (Redis, etc.), and data modeling for scale
  • Proven track record establishing observability, monitoring, and operational excellence standards across engineering teams
  • Exceptional communication skills; able to translate complex technical tradeoffs into clear recommendations for business and executive audiences
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and operating as a technical force multiplier

Nice to have:

  • Experience architecting distributed order management systems (OMS) at scale
  • Deep knowledge of supply chain or logistics systems and integrations (warehouse management, 3PLs, ERPs, inventory allocation)
  • Experience with temporal data modeling and event sourcing patterns
  • Background in e-commerce or consumer products
  • Experience driving cross-functional platform migrations or re-architecture programs
