The selected candidate will join the CME Technology Referential Data Services team in Chicago as a Staff Software Engineer, supporting the Entity Applications for Customer Portfolio. The Staff Software Engineer, engineers secure, scalable and reliable technology solutions, with appropriate mentoring, to advance CMEG in the global marketplace and serve risk management needs of customers around the world.
The role plays a critical part in the engineering team, collaborating with Stakeholders - Product Owners, Architects, Business Analysts, Software Engineers, QA Analysts, guides and mentors Team members and ensures focus on business functionality within the ecosystem from inception through design and implementation, while ensuring compliance with the SDLC process.
Principal Accountabilities:
Lead, design and implement plans for deploying application workloads on GCP.
Applies strong knowledge of Java language, DBMS and middle-ware technologies in designing, developing and testing key components.
Involved in requirements gathering, analysis and solution development for applications in GCP.
Exhibits skill in language proficiency and helps enforce architectural decisions.
Designs, codes independently and identifies potential opportunities for code optimization.
Reviews code to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues and defects and helps to identify sources of defects as well as troubleshoots various forms of code.
Ensures systems are well supported, secure and meet standards.
Lead interactions between systems/ components, identifying impacted systems, flows, and infrastructure components.
Uses design tools to frequently share and communicate design ideas on systems.
Uses patterns frequently, contributing to best practice and process enhancements.
Support build deployments and troubleshoot infrastructure and environment related issues.
Conducts system-wide testing and some integration testing.
Mentor and groom global team members by demonstrating/modeling how a mentee might develop greater initiative, increased independence, and self-reliance.
Embraces and enforces CME Group SDLC and information security standards.
Essential Criteria:
8+ years experience as a Full Stack developer, engaging in all-round development.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent/better strongly preferred, but substantial relevant experience could substitute.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud and related technologies.
Proficient in Java, Python, Spring Framework, RESTful API’s.
Experience with making significant contributions to both technical approach & deliveries.
Communication and collaboration skills with proven ability to lead discussions for solutioning.
Proficient with SCM and build tools Git and Maven.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Google Cloud Certification is a plus.
Experience with fault tolerant, distributed, microservice architectures.
Experience using Confluence, JIRA, or other Atlassian tools.
Experience with UI frameworks and libraries including Redux (Redux-Form & Redux Saga).
Understanding and experience of Agile Methodologies and Product Oriented Model.
Knowledgeable in web application security and mitigating vulnerabilities.
Engagement in developing and automating solutions directly related to Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery and infrastructure automation.
Experience in working with remote teams, different time zones, and consultants.
