The Data Warehouse Engineering team at Cloudera is focused on building the ecosystem for modern data platforms, driving innovation in Cloudera Data Platform (CDP). We work on products that handle complex SQL query workloads on public or private clouds and contribute to open source.
As a Software Engineer you will:
- Architect and develop solutions using SQL query engines and Data Build Tool (DBT) to drive innovation in Cloudera Data Platform (CDP).
- Design and develop enterprise software with a strong understanding of scaling and performance.
- Work on products that handle complex SQL query workloads on public or private clouds as part of CDP.
- Collaborate and contribute to open source projects.
- Practice clean coding habits, attention to detail, and focus on quality.
We’re excited about you if you have:
- 8+ years relevant industry experience in designing and developing enterprise software.
- Strong hands-on programming skills with excellent data structures and algorithms.
- Proficiency in Python and Java.
- Good experience with SQL, dimensional modeling, and analytical data warehouses such as Hive and Impala.
- Understanding of Data Engineering best practices for medium to large-scale production workloads.
- Good knowledge of managing complex workloads using modern data stack tools such as DBT.
- Experience with automation frameworks like Git and Jenkins.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively on cross-functional projects.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
You may also have:
- Experience with a SQL engine, ELT (Extract Load Transform), or Python libraries.
- Experience with Jinja, Shell scripting.
- Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem and file formats like Parquet, ORC.
- Experience with public cloud infrastructures such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform.
