Job Description:

Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for an excellent software engineer with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our development team working on the solution in the area of Workload Automation.

Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world’s structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies.

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our Mainframe Workload Automation team at Broadcom. Workload Automation ESP helps customers to define, monitor and manage scheduled and event-based workloads across all enterprise applications and platforms.
Workload Automation ESP utilizes an object-oriented architecture to reduce and simplify scheduling definitions. Operations and application development teams can easily define schedules and calendars once and reuse them many times. The product consists of a backend assembler language component running on the mainframe, with distributed C++ application and Web application based on Angular that interact with the backend. The Staff Software Engineer will perform complex code modification, testing, and debugging tasks, as well as provide high level analysis related to software design and development. The person in this role is expected to act as a technical lead within a small team, advising, mentoring and coaching more junior developers and partnering with stakeholders such as Product Owners, Solution Architects etc.

Preferred Education

Desired Technical Skills & Experience

  • Professional Mainframe developer

  • Experience in HLASM, Rexx, z/OS services and macros

  • Experience with debugging tools such as IPCS, XDC, etc...

  • Understanding of z/OS system principles and operations

  • Familiar with QA and DevOps concepts and practices such as test automation, CI/CD etc.

  • Experience in the following areas as a plus:

    • C++ or Java Experience

    • Metal C

    • Familiarity with web service security
