Role Summary:

As a Staff Reliability Engineer you will have the opportunity to become a key member of the Engineering organization, building platforms, systems, and tools used to maintain and improve the reliability of a large, heterogeneous technology stack. You will help set and model high standards for quality of contributions, technical leadership, commitment to the improvement of the customer experience, the quality of our platforms, and the growth and development of the reliability engineering team.

Key Qualifications:

• 7+ years of Site Reliability Engineering or Cloud Engineering experience

• Deep experience with observability and alerting technologies, such as:

  • Application Performance Management (e.g. NewRelic, DataDog)

  • Centralized Logging (e.g. Splunk, ELK or EFK stacks, Sentry, Rollbar)

  • Monitoring and Incident Response (e.g. Prometheus, CloudWatch)

  • Observability Dashboards (e.g. Grafana, CloudWatch)

• 5+ years of software development using any of the following languages: Python, Golang

• 5+ years of building scalable services on AWS, with emphasis on containerization & orchestration, service discovery, and telemetry

• 5+ years of Linux systems administration experience

• SIgnificant experience using Infrastructure-as-code deployment patterns (preferred: Terraform)

• Experience designing and building services intended to be used by other engineers

• Experience diagnosing, profiling, and resolving performance issues

• Proficiency with source control management repositories (emphasis on Git) and version-control best practices

• General understanding of modern networking and information security practices

• 10+ years of overall industry experience

• (Nice to have) Familiarly with DevOps or DevSecOps philosophies and tools

• (Nice to have) Familiarity with any of the following languages: Java, Typescript, Kotlin

• (Nice to have) Quality Assurance experience

Role Description:

• Maintain critical central platforms used to serve customer-facing traffic

• Design and develop services, systems, and tools to enable modern service reliability processes and practices

• Champion development and adoption of reusable reliability patterns

• Ensure service architecture aligns with user and business needs

• Bring expertise in investigation and resolution of complex technical problems within the organization

• Maintain awareness of industry trends and evaluate the applicability of new software technologies

• Drive innovation at a software product level and contribute ideas to the product roadmap

• Mentor junior team members
