Scopely is seeking a highly motivated Staff Software Engineer to join our Playgami team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis!

What You’ll Do
- Lead work from design through implementation and operation, producing maintainable code, useful documentation, effective tests, and reliable releases.
- Set technical direction for complex features and systems that run world-class games at scale, owning clear trade-offs between player experience, delivery speed, and long-term health.
- Raise standards across teams, improving delivery, performance, reliability, scalability, and security through sound design and production feedback.
- Partner with colleagues in product, data, design and other disciplines to clarify ambiguous problems, align decisions, manage dependencies, and deliver meaningful outcomes for the business.
- Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and help colleagues succeed beyond your immediate team.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong computer science and engineering fundamentals, including system design, data structures, algorithms and concurrency.
- Deep experience with Java, C#, or another object-oriented language, including asynchronous and parallel programming.
- A track record of designing, shipping, and operating complex production systems with high-quality, maintainable code.
- The ability to lead across teams and disciplines through influence, communicate decisions clearly, and work constructively.
- A product engineering mindset, sound judgment under ambiguity, and a habit of learning and improving.
Bonus Points
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
- Experience with low-latency, high-volume distributed systems or large-scale data technologies.
- Experience with a modern web framework such as React or Angular.
