The Opportunity

The Staff Software Engineer is an experienced software professional with medical device industry knowledge who plays a key role in the development, verification, and commercialization of the Spryte imaging platform and associated medical devices.  This position serves as a hands-on technical contributor, responsible for driving complex software projects, including software architecture, and delivering high-quality, regulatory-compliant software solutions.  The role requires collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to support product innovation, development, regulatory approval, and commercialization.

Essential Responsibilities

· Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of the Spryte imaging application software and internal software tools.

· Lead and contribute to the definition, implementation, and evolution of robust and scalable software architectures.

· Perform software debugging, code reviews, verification, validation, and automated testing, including unit and integration testing.

· Translate signal processing and image processing algorithms into production-quality software integrated within the imaging application.

· Design and develop innovative user interfaces and user experiences using modern software technologies.

· Develop rapid prototypes to evaluate new features, user interface concepts, algorithms, and hardware integrations.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, marketing, clinical, quality, and regulatory affairs.

· Create, maintain, and review software documentation required for regulatory submissions, product development, and commercialization activities.

· Ensure software deliverables comply with applicable medical device regulations, standards, and quality processes.

· Support intellectual property development, including invention disclosure generation and patent-related activities.

· Mentor and provide technical leadership to other software engineers.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

· Minimum of 12 years of software engineering experience, preferably in the medical device industry, with previous experience serving as a technical lead on software development projects.

· Extensive experience with modern C++, including: Object-oriented design, Multithreaded programming, and software architecture

· Experience with scripting languages. Preferred: Python and JavaScript. 

· Experience with the Qt/QML framework for desktop application development.

· Experience developing software in regulated environments, including medical device software development processes. 

· Familiarity with software lifecycle standards such as IEC 62304 and ISO 14971.

· Experience working within FDA, MDR, or other regulated medical device environments.

· Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and requirements for medical devices.

· Expertise in user interface and user experience (UI/UX) development.

· Experience implementing signal processing and image processing algorithms using frameworks such as OpenCV, ITK, or equivalent.

· Experience integrating machine learning models into production software. Experience with PyTorch and model deployment is preferred.

· Experience with DICOM and PACS integration.

· Experience visualizing and rendering medical imaging and biomedical data.

· Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Salary Description

$170k-$210k
