About your new role:

CommandLink's security product turns raw security telemetry, from firewalls, endpoints, cloud audit trails, and more, into a picture an analyst can actually investigate. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll own that surface end to end: the API and UI, the architecture behind them, and the data contracts that allow for advanced, ingestion, classification, and alerting.

We're looking for a strong generalist first. What matters most is deep, production-grade experience building and owning full-stack applications in Go, and a proven track record of reasoning clearly through unfamiliar problems and ramping into new domains fast. You don't need a security background to succeed here. You'll build that fluency on the job, working alongside the teams who live in it every day, and you'll bring the architectural judgment, technical range, and engineering rigor that keep a complex, fast-moving product like this one on solid ground.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the architecture and long-term direction of the security product's API and UI, including how it consumes telemetry and evolves as the platform grows.
  • Define and enforce the data contracts between the security product and the alert, classification, and ingestion services it depends on.
  • Learn and integrate telemetry across a wide range of sources (syslog, NetFlow, SNMP, firewall telemetry, OpenTelemetry, EDR, and MDR ingest) into a consistent model analysts can rely on, building domain fluency on the job.
  • Make cloud environments and their audit trails a first-class part of the product, not an afterthought bolted on.
  • Surface enriched entities, alerts, and topology in the shape security teams actually use when investigating an incident, partnering closely with analysts and domain experts to get the model right.
  • Drive architectural decisions in ambiguous, cross-functional spaces where requirements are incomplete or competing, and see them through to durable outcomes.
  • Set the technical patterns and standards other engineers on the team build against.
  • Mentor engineers across the team, sharing the application architecture and Go engineering practices that raise the bar for production-grade work at CommandLink.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and projects as needed to support the success of the team and organization.

What you'll need for success:

  • Deep, production-proven experience with Go, including designing, building, and owning services end to end, from API design through deployment and operations.
  • Full-stack range: comfortable owning both the backend and API layer and the UI or front-end experience for a product surface, not just one side of the stack.
  • Production experience with high-volume, latency-sensitive infrastructure: distributed messaging or event streaming (e.g., Kafka) and search or indexing at scale (e.g., OpenSearch), or clear equivalents.
  • Comfort with contract-driven development across teams, using schema or interface definitions like protobuf to keep multiple services honest to a shared contract.
  • A demonstrated track record of ramping into new, unfamiliar technical or business domains quickly, and reasoning clearly about systems you didn't build.
  • A track record of owning architectural decisions in ambiguous, cross-functional spaces and driving them to durable outcomes, including influencing shared standards beyond your immediate team.
  • Comfort operating with significant autonomy where requirements are incomplete or competing.
  • Working knowledge of cloud environments and how they're operated and audited in production.
