The Customer Care team’s mission is to transform how Robinhood supports its customers by integrating AI technologies that scale empathetic, accurate, and timely support.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of AI innovation—designing, deploying, and scaling generative AI chatbot solutions that redefine customer support! Your work will directly influence how millions interact with our platform.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do
  • Design and implement scalable generative AI solutions that elevate our customer care experience using advanced LLMs, natural language processing, and ML tools.
  • Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, PMs, and CX stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of chatbot features across the Robinhood ecosystem.
  • Experiment with and prototype new capabilities, driving improvements in response quality, reliability, and personalization.
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to a culture of innovation, learning, and high-impact delivery.
  • Champion best practices around testing, monitoring, security, and compliance in all AI initiatives.
What you bring
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant depth in AI/ML, NLP, and chatbot development.
  • A proven track record of working across product and engineering teams to ship impactful, user-facing solutions.
  • Experience mentoring and leading other engineers while fostering collaboration and technical growth.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep interest in generative AI advancements and their application to customer service technologies.
  • Bonus: familiarity with the financial services industry.

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

$169,000$199,000 USD
