We’re a startup on the verge of something big, and we’re looking for a Staff Engineer to help us build the next generation of Revenue Management solutions. This team is responsible for delivering the complex and unique billing calculations our customers rely on to configure and manage their client billing operations with precision. As a majority co-located team, we work together to develop highly accurate, scalable, and high-impact solutions, where your work will have a direct and measurable impact on our company’s success as we scale.
In this role, you’ll design and build scalable, accurate, and efficient billing solutions that handle complex financial calculations, while owning major technical initiatives that improve performance, and scalability. You’ll work closely with product and business teams to align engineering efforts with company goals, mentor engineers to raise the technical bar, and identify and solve technical bottlenecks to ensure smooth customer billing operations. Our team values iteration over rigid processes, solving complex challenges through deep technical thinking and rapid execution.
We’re looking for someone with deep experience in backend engineering, ideally in billing, finance, or other high-accuracy domains, who has a strong understanding of scalable architectures, distributed systems, and data processing. The right candidate will have a passion for problem-solving, mentoring engineers, and working in fast-paced environments where technical decisions make a real impact. What will you do?

- Impact our developing tech stack based on modern front-end frameworks and cost-efficient utilization of AWS back-end services
- Participate in the creation and construction of developer-based automation that leads to scalable, high-quality applications that our customers will depend on to run their business and generate revenue
- Coach, mentor, and inspire product engineers that are responsible for delivering high performing, secure enterprise applications
- Demonstrate a strong dedication to code quality, automation and operational excellence: implement unit/integration/component tests and workflows
Desired Skills and Experience
- 8+ years in a software engineering position or similar function
- Mastery of data structures, algorithms, and architectural patterns
- Experience writing code that manages high volume numerical data and generated values where precision is essential
- Knowledge of how to create performant design when handling large data sets
- Experience using JVM Languages (Java, Kotlin,etc), RESTful/GraphQL APIs, SQL
- Working knowledge in JavaScript, React, HTML, CSS
- Knowledge of cloud-native applications on AWS/Azure/Google Cloud
- Well versed in automated testing
- Willingness to learn about new technologies, while simultaneously developing expertise in a business domain/problem space
- Ability to focus on short-term deliverables, while maintaining a big-picture perspective
- Aptitude for problem solving
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and all audiences
- Serious interest in having fun at work and with your team
Bonus:
- Experience with investment or asset management applications OR customer relationship management (CRM) and billing experience
- Understanding of AWS services (ECS/Fargate, Kafka/MSK) and infrastructure (IaC/Terraform)
- Experience with Docker and containerization
- Background in economics or finance
- Experience using Data Dog
