The Business Banking BB payments Technology team bring together the processes, people and technology assets that support real-time, bulk electronic, cheques, high value and international payments across the bank . As part of the Batch Payments crew and the Software Engineering chapter you will work across a number of batch payment systems including Sterling B2B integrator and Mainframe apps.

Ultimately, you will be part a team who are responsible for building, and leading world-class data delivery capability across critical payments data platforms, through tech strategy development, investment prioritisation, design integrity and modernisation through automation and partnering.

We are seeking people who are able to:

  • Own and develop technical strategy as well as able to oversee medium to complex engineering initiatives.

  • Lead the development of strategic programs of work, including Proof of Concept developments.

  • Design and deliver innovative technical solutions to complex business problems.

  • Collaborate to help define the roadmap to take the Product from current state to Target state.

  • Have demonstrated experience in translating the product vision into actionable technical plans.

  • Utilise strong understanding of core business and technical strategies to deliver best business outcomes through technical implementation.

  • Effective mentorship skills with the ability to appropriately guide a technical team of world-class engineers.

Technical Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

  • Experience developing at scale in any programming language such as Java, Typescript, Go, C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core

  • Well experienced with “Everything as code” development approach and experience with related tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, Python.

  • Sound knowledge and experience working with AWS services (such as EKS, Helm charts, Lambda)

  • Experience with designing and building Serverless applications and running containerised applications at scale.

  • Shift-left mindset - developing and maintaining automation, unit, integration & UI testing through use of mocks

  • Proven ability to design, implement, and manage CI/CD/CT pipelines using GitHub Actions

  • Expertise with Microservices, Rest API Integration, detailed Solution Design

  • Expert at automating repetitive tasks using Ansible, Python, shell scripting etc.
