The Staff Software Engineer is a hands-on technical leader who designs and delivers enterprise-grade software powering clinician-facing experiences and clinician performance management. In this role you will architect and build highly distributed, large-scale systems, set technical direction across the team, and raise the engineering bar through mentorship and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
Lead technical initiatives that solve complex, enterprise-wide problems — ensuring maintainability, performance, and scalability.
Design, build, and maintain business-critical, enterprise-grade systems using modern technology and techniques.

Minimum Requirements
Strong foundation in software engineering: problem solving, data structures, algorithms, patterns, concurrency.
Experience as a polyglot software engineer. Experience with more than one of: C++, C#, Java, Golang, Javascript, Typescript, Python, or similar.
6+ months of experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to enhance productivity and code quality.
Experience using full-stack development to ship and operate large-scale systems.
Strong SQL skills and understanding of RDBMS such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
Deep experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems end-to-end in production environments.
Experience with modern front-end technologies (e.g., React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS/JavaScript) and full-stack development patterns.
Strong experience with cloud vendors: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Clear and effective communication.
Ability to travel quarterly or as needed.
7–10 years of work experience.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$106,605.00 - $260,590.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
