The Fintech Office is a specialized engineering team at the heart of our financial ecosystem. While the Payments, Disbursements, and GRC squads keep the day‑to‑day platform running, the Fintech Office focuses on high‑impact, cross‑functional projects that unlock the next wave of growth for Félix. This team’s mission is to enable Félix’s financial infrastructure by optimizing cross‑functional systems and managing financial resources to drive operational excellence and sustainable growth.
This role is open to all candidates in Latin America.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will join a high-caliber group of technical leaders driving the design and delivery of green‑field initiatives that touch every corner of Félix’s financial stack. You will turn ambiguous business problems into resilient, scalable systems that directly influence strategic decisions and unlock new revenue streams.
This is a hands‑on role for an engineer who loves diving deep into complex financial domains, setting architectural vision, and mentoring others to raise the bar.
- Architect & Build scalable micro‑services and data pipelines that advance the Fintech Office mission.
- Drive Special Projects – e.g., automated global FX inventory system, cross‑border settlement rails, cost‑to‑serve analytics platform.
- Ensure Financial Accuracy by designing ledger‑grade data models and reconciliation processes.
- Optimise Capital through systems that model liquidity, risk, fees, and vendor pricing.
- Collaborate Across Squads (Payments, Disbursements, GRC) and work alongside other Staff Engineers to deliver shared infrastructure and unblock product launches.
- Own Quality & Reliability – establish SLIs/SLOs, observability, on‑call rotations, and incident reviews.
- Mentor & Uplevel engineers, championing best practices in design, testing, deployment, and documentation
- Influence Strategy – Provide technical insight and architectural leadership to shape the Fintech roadmap and investment decisions, communicating impact to stakeholders across the business.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in fintech or payments.
- Fluent or advanced English preferred. Upper-intermediate is also fine, as long as you can communicate clearly in a professional setting.
- Demonstrated ownership of mission‑critical financial systems (ledgers, reconciliation, treasury, FX, risk).
- Expertise in Python (preferred), Go or Java, plus solid SQL & data‑modelling skills; experience with event‑driven and hexagonal architectures.
- Deep understanding of transaction integrity, idempotency, concurrency control, and double‑entry accounting.
- Proven ability to set architectural vision and influence multiple teams.
- Experience operating distributed systems on GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform (or equivalent cloud‑native stacks).
- A bias for shipping, strong product sense, and a passion for empowering underserved communities.
- These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.
