The Role
Who We Are

Imprint is reimagining co-branded credit cards & financial products to be smarter, more rewarding, and truly brand-first. We partner with companies like H-E-B, Turkish Airlines, Brooks Brothers, and Eddie Bauer to launch modern credit programs that deepen loyalty, unlock savings, and drive growth. Our platform combines advanced payments infrastructure, intelligent underwriting, and seamless UX to help brands offer powerful financial products—without becoming a bank.

Co-branded cards account for over $300 billion in U.S. annual spend—but most are still powered by legacy banks. Imprint is the modern alternative: flexible, tech-forward, and built for today’s consumer. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Thrive Capital, and Khosla Ventures, we’re building a world-class team to redefine how people pay—and how brands grow. If you want to work fast, solve hard problems, and make a real impact, we’d love to meet you.

The Team

The Spend Team powers the core functionality that cardholders experience after joining Imprint, creating the software that makes our app truly exceptional. We develop sophisticated rewards configurations, seamless API partner integrations, and SDKs that extend our polished user experience across platforms. Our commitment to building secure, scalable, and thoroughly tested code powers complex reward redemption flows that respond intelligently to user transaction patterns over time. We participate in architectural planning while consistently contributing innovative ideas that enhance the daily cardholder experience, increase revenue opportunities, and support business growth.

The team takes pride in delivering solutions that are best-in-class throughout the customer journey, from account management to rewards redemption, with an unwavering focus on creating positive experiences for existing cardholders.

The Location

For this role, you will have the option to work fully remote or hybrid work format, working from either our San Francisco, Seattle or New York offices.

What You'll Do

As the staff engineer of this team, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Build and scale backend services that power the core functionality of the Imprint Spend experience, including dynamic rewards configurations, intelligent redemption flows, and seamless API and SDK integrations.

  • Design and implement secure, performant, and highly available systems that respond in real-time to user transaction patterns.

  • Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards across the team.

  • Own projects end-to-end: from technical scoping and architecture discussions through to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing iteration.

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers across the stack to ship features that meaningfully improve the cardholder experience.

  • Contribute to the technical roadmap by identifying areas for improvement, suggesting new ideas, and helping evolve system architecture to support growth.

  • Continuously improve reliability, observability, and developer tooling to support a world-class platform.

  • Stay current on backend technologies and share learnings with the team through mentorship, pairing, and design reviews.

  • Work with technologies like Go, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, SQL and NoSQL databases, REST and gRPC APIs.
