As a Staff Software Development Engineer at Clearwater, you will play a crucial role in accomplishing our mission. You will be a leading member of the Prism team, which is responsible for managing our external BI reporting platform and the data aggregation pipeline backing it. This team’s product serves as a key data hub for multiple crucial products that rely on Prism Data.
In this role, you will
Lead the technical strategy, operational excellence, and professional delivery of a broad set of neighboring domains in the Clearwater architecture.
Establish relationships with stakeholders in neighboring divisions and departments.
Help experienced engineers successfully mentor less-experienced engineers.
Identify innovations and helpful patterns within teams and encourage sharing them with other teams.
Drive improvements in how work gets done and results get delivered.
Lead multi-team multi-system projects to timely and quality delivery.
Build operational maturity and maintainability into software systems and monitoring.
Create clear designs that result in high quality, maintainable products that can debugged, updated, and extended by less-experienced engineers.
Continuously build your skills through regular code reviews, training, mentoring, and access to free trainings on Udemy for Business.
About the technology
We leverage a range of technologies to support the development of quality software, including:
Snowflake, Java, and React for our main application stacks across our microservices fleet. Some stacks also leverage DynamoDB, Python, or NodeJs.
Git repositories hosted on Gitlab for code management.
OpenSearch and Dynatrace for application logging and monitoring.
Cloudbees, Artifactory, Terraform, and Amazon Web Services for builds, deployment, infrastructure, and configuration. We are also leveraging Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes.
Junit and Cypress for automated testing.
Atlassian (Jira, Confluence), Office365 (including Microsoft Teams), and Zoom for communication.
Quality hardware to support development and communication on Windows or Mac platforms.
We would love to hear from you if you have
9+ years of enterprise software development experience using a modern language (Java, Python, Javascript, etc.).
Experience with designing and implementing distributed systems using a microservices architecture.
Professional experience with running software systems on a public-cloud provider.
Exceptional leadership and mentorship skills, including having led an engineering team (either as a tech lead or manager).
Enthusiasm for software work in a software-as-a-service company.
Driven by client satisfaction.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage own time and deliver expected results on time.
Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience running applications on a public cloud provider.
