Responsibilities and Accountability
The Solution architect’s role is an integral part of the software technical delivery organization, the role is to ensure best in class and optimal technical design to meet customer functional and non-functional requirements, project budget and timescale for those solutions, covering Asset Control solutions.
This position is for a Solution Architect in charge of the implementation of GE’s Software solutions for Transmission & Distribution systems.
- Lead the architecture and design of technical solutions for customers. Own the design deliverables for assigned area of work (Statement of Work, Architecture documents)
- Understand capabilities of GE Vernova's Software Products for Transmission and Distribution
- Contribute to technical analysis activities, such as requirements gathering and product gap analysis of user requirements.
- Responsible for design documentation. Deliver detailed design specifications as per customer requirements. Ensure that proposed architectures and designs are according to best practices and are optimal
- Manage involvement of other SMEs (e.g. business analysts, IT / Cybersecurity experts) and make sure their design contributions meet system architecture functional and non-functional requirements
- In partnership with IT/cyber experts, software experts, proposes the best IT/Infrastructure layers and components for the solution (covering among other topics virtualization, operating systems, Storage & archival, network architecture, … )
- Engage throughout the entire lifecycle on projects and provide feedback on architecture, design, and functionality while working closely with team members,
- Liaison with the Product Management and Development teams to help build best practices within the European region
- Follow technical review processes and provide insights for product enhancements
- Strong collaboration with the Delivery Manager is required / Coordination with Solution Engineering; integration; (including Factories) and Application Engineering teams is also required
- Share responsibility with DM on assigned activities, through close coordination, for scope management (change requests assessment), risk management and problem management
- Strong involvement on engineering Gate Reviews (Solution, FAT Readiness, SAT Readiness)
- Drive excellence in execution in its project through continuous improvement and change management to implement competitiveness improvement initiatives (costs base reduction, lead time reduction, productivity improvement, quality improvement…)
The role is also responsible for activities related to project execution such as
- Participate in project execution and provide timely support to delivery managers for project milestones delivery, this role will also be responsible for supporting different activities related to Software projects or the maintenance & Support contracts (preventive or curative actions) such as but not limited to: solving software issues, troubleshooting & producing technical report, interfacing direct with engineering team to raise issues and validate R&D deliveries
- In addition to this key mission, the software architect is required to closely interacts with other functions such as Solution Integration, Test Management and tendering
- Collaborate with Commercial operations teams when needed during bidding for requirement analysis, build state of the art solutions architecture considering latest technologies, return of experience, quality improvement, productivity improvement and cost solution improvement
Qualifications/Requirements
Educational Requirements:
- Master or equivalent degree
Required Knowledge & Experience
- At least 08 years’ experience in software delivery organization, with operation (project delivery) background
- Strong background in software architecture & integration aspects related to computer systems
- Industry knowledge in the field of operation and multi sites project
- Organizations Process and methodology oriented
- Ability to work with people remotely and drive towards a common goal
- Highly collaborative and able to work across the organization to accomplish common goals
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and be self-directed in workload prioritization Must be able to attend work on a daily basis in a regular and timely manner
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable presenting technical design, technical solutions and enterprise architecture solutions to clients/customers (English proficiency required).
