Labcorp is seeking a Staff Scientist, Histology to join our team in Indianapolis, IN!

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Job Responsibilities:

Participates in scientific activities and initiatives in support of global Laboratory Operations. Performs complex trouble-shooting and problem-solving, supporting Lab Operations to ensure smooth transition of assays into production. Participates in developing/identifying new strategies, techniques and instrumentation for the development of new ventures in the

scientific area of expertise for CLS global Laboratory Operations.

• Performs complex troubleshooting and assists in leading initiatives to solve challenging scientific problems with assays or instrumentation.

• Applies and interprets scientific theories, concepts, techniques and regulatory requirements in clinical studies and accepts leadership role in developing scientific

approaches.

• Provides consultation to scientific and operational staff on technical issues.

• Responds to unscheduled deadlines, client needs, crises, etc. without neglecting other duties.

• Assists with regular monitoring and evaluation of clinical assays to ensure effective scientific performance.

• May provide technical training for operational staff.

• Provides technical/scientific consultation to departments outside the lab (i.e., Project Management) as requested.

• Contributes to long-term planning and technical policies of the department.

• Assists in managing scientific vendor relationships to troubleshoot issues and improve capabilities.

• Participates in client visits.

• Regularly reads literature related to scientific area of expertise to remain current in knowledge.

• Presentations to clients and professional groups.

• Attend meetings, conferences, symposia, and seminars to promote CLS’s capabilities within dedicated scientific area.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biology, life science or relevant, or with 3-5 years industry or academic experience on anatomic pathology and histology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Board certification in scientific area of expertise.

Additional Job Standards:

  • Work is generally performed in a laboratory environment.

  • Exposure to blood borne pathogens

  • Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals

  • Overtime and weekend work as required.

  • Attending technical conferences and exhibits as required.

Skills Required

  • Ph.D. in Biology, life science or relevant
  • 3-5 years industry or academic experience in anatomic pathology and histology
  • Experience with histology and anatomic pathology techniques and clinical assays
  • Experience troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation and assays
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous chemicals
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required
