We are looking for a Propulsion Systems Test Engineer to join our team. The goal of a Propulsion Systems Test Engineer at Wisk is to ensure the development, production and certification testing of Wisk Generation 6 electrical propulsion systems. You will be part of the Systems Test and Simulation team that plans, designs, builds, and commissions test rigs for component and system-level integration tests.
Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Fremont office.
What you will do:
- As part of the Systesm Test organization, you will act as a Propulsion Systems Test Engineer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market
- Lead the development of test fixtures for the tilt mechanism, motor controller, electric motor and propellers
- Work closely with a cross functional team to develop test requirements and test plans
- Write test specification, operation manual and test procedures
- Design, procure and fabricate test fixtures, harnesses and instrumentation
- Select and integrate transducers and data acquisition devices into test setups
- Automate test execution and data collection to ease operation and increase safety
- Coordinate and Execute tests with our internal lab equipment or at external labs
- Analyze test data and communicate results to stakeholders through detailed test reports and presentations
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and software issues during testing
- Maintain test fixtures, configuration management, calibration log and upgrade them with the latest hardware and software versions
- Maintain and organize the internal lab
- Ensure and improve safety protocols
Requirements:
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering degree
- 8+ years of relevant work experience
- You have worked in aerospace, automotive, or electric motor industry
- You have hands-on experience in test rig design and operation
- You have a deep and applied knowledge of complex integrated aircraft systems
- You have led teams whom achieved end-of-line, acceptance, verification, and certification testing
- You are familiar with high voltage power distribution and powertrain systems, and electric motor and controller testing
- This role will require 10% of travel
