Overview

Lightship is the first American all-electric recreational vehicle manufacturer currently developing an aerodynamic, battery-powered trailer for the electric age. As the macro transition to an all-electric transportation ecosystem accelerates, Lightship is bringing the increased convenience and superior performance that electrification offers to a pastime enjoyed by over 11 million American families.

Honoring Diverse Perspectives

Lightship is committed to hiring and developing top talent from diverse backgrounds. We believe representing and supporting diverse groups is key to the success of our team members, customers, shareholders and the achievement of our mission and vision. We operate in a collaborative environment with a flat organizational structure and expect a high degree of integrity, autonomy and creativity from all members of the team.

About the Role

Lightship is seeking a passionate and data-driven Staff Product Manager to establish the Product team and function at Lightship, leading our product vision and execution. You’ll be responsible for defining and shaping the product roadmap, driving product development from concept through launch, and ensuring that our products and associated services deliver a superior experience to our customers. You are a strategic driving force at the center of our team.

Beyond carrying a strategic vision for our products across the company, your job is to dive into the particulars: what exactly is a Lightship, and who is it built for? How do they first discover, experience, and eventually decide to purchase a Lightship, and how do they stay connected to the company and brand as they learn where and how to use their vehicle, get it serviced, request support or provide product feedback? You’ll work with stakeholders in- and outside of the company to create a compelling case for what we should build, now and in the future, on our journey to create multipurpose, sustainable travel homes and become an iconic American all-electric RV company.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a product development methodology at Lightship that allows us to rapidly and continuously test product hypotheses and keep us on track against our objectives
  • Build a clear product roadmap and connect the dots across functions and organizations
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Engineering, Design, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and outside partners
  • Foster strong communication, collaboration, and alignment across teams
  • Communicate roadmaps, decisions, and learnings across a wide range of audiences from development teams to executives
  • Define and drive detailed, technical and regulatory requirements for Engineering and Design to fulfill
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle ensuring products are designed and engineered to meet market demands
  • Own and drive new product development and partner with our CMB team for go-to-market initiatives, including launch plan, Marketing/Sales documentation and internal product documentation
  • Identify gaps between what Lightship needs to do to be successful in target markets and what we are on track to achieve
  • Develop a deep understanding of our customer, our business and its stakeholders, and our market within the RV industry
  • Establish, track, and move key success metrics

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Product Management experience, ideally within EV, automotive, hardware/hardtech, and/or outdoor recreation industries
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and ability to synthesize technical information
  • Proven ability to effectively partner with Engineering and Design teams
  • Ability to establish empathy and rapport with RVers and outdoorspeople, engaging their input in the product development process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, motivational storyteller, and strong with visual aids and presentation
  • Self-driven, comfortable in highly autonomous role with some ambiguity
