Deepgram is the leading platform underpinning the emerging trillion-dollar Voice AI economy, providing real-time APIs for speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS), and building production-grade voice agents at scale. More than 200,000 developers and 1,300+ organizations build voice offerings that are ‘Powered by Deepgram’, including Twilio, Cloudflare, Sierra, Decagon, Vapi, Daily, Cresta, Granola, and Jack in the Box. Deepgram’s voice-native foundation models are accessed through cloud APIs or as self-hosted and on-premises software, with unmatched accuracy, low latency, and cost efficiency. Backed by a recent Series C led by leading global investors and strategic partners, Deepgram has processed over 50,000 years of audio and transcribed more than 1 trillion words. There is no organization in the world that understands voice better than Deepgram.
Company Operating RhythmAt Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.
Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.
Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

The RoleDeepgram builds the voice AI models that power other companies’ products. We are also building our own line of AI applications — products that put our voice AI directly in the hands of the people who use them, knowledge workers and consumers alike — and those applications are a new revenue stream for the company. We are hiring a Staff Product Manager to define that line and to build it into a profitable business.
This is a product management role in the conventional sense: you own the product, its direction, and its decisions, and engineering builds it. What sets the role apart is the moment. The team, the models, and the first applications are in place. The strategy for the line — which products we build, for whom, and how they make money — is yours to set, to defend with evidence, and to keep steady while the company’s attention on it stays high. You report to the VP of Self-Serve.
What You’ll DoOwn the strategy for Deepgram’s AI applications: decide which products the line consists of, who they are for, and why they win; write it down; defend it to executives; and keep the direction stable while the team builds.
Own the roadmap and its decisions — what ships, in what order, with which tradeoffs — from the applications we have today to the ones we have not built yet.
Build the business: acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization, with the metrics, the targets, and a weekly read of whether the product is working and the business is becoming profitable.
Represent the product with partners and customers, and own what we commit to deliver and when.
Run the team’s operating rhythm — a hypothesis, a shipped change, an honest measurement, the next bet — with real usage by real people as the bar, starting with Deepgram’s own employees as the first users.
Partner daily with research on the models, with engineering and design on the build, and with marketing on the launch; bring the user’s voice into every decision.
Prototype. Mockups, wireframes, and working prototypes are how you communicate; using the product every day is how you know it.
Want to define a product line rather than inherit one, and have done the zero-to-one work before, so you know what it costs.
Believe that voice changes what software can do for a person, and have built toward that belief.
Keep a direction under executive attention and strong opinions, and bring people along with evidence rather than volume.
Build things yourself — a prototype, your own analysis, the fix — and never stop.
Are genuinely AI-native: you work with these tools all day, you know where they help and where they mislead, and you turn them on your own problems.
Excellent product management judgment. You own product and roadmap, set direction, decide under uncertainty, ship outcomes, and lead cross-functional work without authority. You can show the results.
A shipped product that people paid for. This is required. You have built and shipped a consumer or prosumer application that people chose and paid for, and you owned its funnel and its business as well as its features.
Zero-to-one product definition. You have taken a product from an idea to a first version real users adopted — the strategy, the positioning, the first release — and you can show what happened next.
Deep AI fluency, proven by shipped work. This is required. You have personally built and shipped AI into end-user applications and have strong, specific opinions about where models help, where they fail, and how to verify what they produce.
Technical depth. You reason with engineering about models, latency, privacy, and platform tradeoffs; you read code; you prototype.
Design sense. You build simple, effective interfaces and communicate ideas through mockups and prototypes, grounded in user research and testing.
The judgment to distrust a number before you build on it. You ask whether a metric is real or an artifact of how it was measured, as a reflex.
Clear communication with executives. You lead with the decision, keep your method in reserve, and stay steady under pushback without either caving or digging in.
Experience building native desktop or mobile applications (Windows, macOS, iOS).
Experience shipping a product through distribution partners, on someone else’s platform and calendar.
Experience with voice, audio, or real-time systems.
Time in a company with both a self-serve and an enterprise motion.
