The Staff Platform Infrastructure Engineer will be instrumental in building and scaling our next-generation data and AI infrastructure — driving technical innovation across all of Danaher. In this highly impactful role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining the core platform capabilities, including cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and platform support. Your technical execution will directly enable a robust, high-performance environment that accelerates enterprise-wide AI-driven research and product development.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Data and AI Platform and is part of the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) Office located in Washington, DC and will be fully remote.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Build, automate, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) to deliver repeatable, governed, and auditable environments.

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines that provide fast, secure, and consistent paths from code to production for internal teams.

  • Develop and enhance a self-service platform enabling data scientists and engineers to provision compute, data, and ML resources easily, reducing barriers to adopting emerging technologies.

  • Embed security, data governance, quality, and compliance by design, while establishing the platform’s operational backbone (observability, monitoring, alerting, and support tiers).

  • Evaluate and integrate new tools and services, collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into capabilities, and mentor engineers while driving technical standards, documentation, and a culture of rigor and continuous learning.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 5+ years of software, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience, including hands-on data and/or AI/ML infrastructure work; CS/Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Deep, hands-on expertise with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), plus working familiarity with multi-cloud environments and their data and AI services.

  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI), and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), with proficiency in at least one language (Python, Go, Bash) for automation and tooling.

  • Solid security and networking fundamentals for provisioning secure cloud resources, and a track record operating production systems: monitoring, observability, incident response, and reliability practices.

  • Proven ability to set technical direction at platform scale: driving cross-team architecture and design decisions, establishing standards, and mentoring engineers in ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to travel – up to 10%

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Life sciences, diagnostics, or biotechnology (e.g., partnering with R&D, quality, clinical, manufacturing, or commercial teams)

  • Data and engineering practices in industries governed by regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, GxP), compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX), and rigorous data governance requirements.

  • Working in a matrixed environment
