The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA.
It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53,000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers..
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be working within a cross-functional squad responsible for the technical design, development, and rollout of key enhancements to our end-users. You’re constantly pushing the boundaries to help deliver outcomes that define future industry trends and your passion for outstanding user experience and ability to solve complex problems is key to developing high quality technical solutions.
Also, you will be a strong advocate for best practices, capable of challenging and being challenged, to deliver the best technical solutions for our customers. With your rich blend of skillsets, you will contribute to the systems end-to-end as well as manage risk with safe deployments and automated testing.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and evolving the cloud-based infrastructure supporting our mission-critical application. You will working closely with software engineering, SRE, and platform engineering teams to implement automation, maintain code repositories, infrastructure repositories improve observability, and optimise deployment pipelines. In summary, in this role, you may expect to:

Have experience with the Full-cycle development and delivery using Agile practices with specific focus on the following: React, API design

Maintain, enhance, and optimise a mission-critical application platform hosted on AWS.

Implement and advocate for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices, ensuring system reliability, scalability, and performance.

Contribute to build robust CI/CD pipelines to support seamless and efficient software deployments.
We’re interested in hearing from people who possess the following:

Proficiency in backend technologies such as .Net Core, C#, and ASP.NET.

Experience with frontend technologies, specifically React.js.
-
Expertise in Microservices and Restful API design patterns.
-
Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tools like TeamCity, GitHub Copilot, and Octopus.
-
AWS Cloud experience, including EC2, SNS, S3, ECS, EKS and Lambda, with AWS certification being a must.

Desired knowledge in AI, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models (LLM).

Experience with Redux, Kafka, and the banking domain is preferred.

Proficiency in Windows, PowerShell, and IIS.

Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, including tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Observe, Dynatrace and App Dynamics.
