About this Role

Fandom is growing! Our Staff Network Engineer opportunity is based in America, and reports to our Manager of Tech Ops.Our Engineering team is a fan of building web experiences on the world’s largest platform for fans, with 300+ million users a month!

As a Staff Network Engineer you will design, configure, and maintain our production datacenter networks. You will work closely with the operations team to ensure that infrastructure is designed with scale, operability, performance, and ease-of-use in mind. Your day to day operations will include diagnosing and resolving performance and reliability issues with switches, routers, and carriers. You’ll be responsible for driving the entire lifecycle of DevOps projects and feature developments.

This position is hybrid San Francisco bay area

You Will...

  • Design, implement, and maintain high availability networks
  • Participate and occasionally lead planning, daily stand-ups, RCAs and retrospectives
  • Work in an environment where you have a direct influence on technical decisions
  • Develop and maintain solutions for disaster recovery, network management and security/performance monitoring
  • Continuously evaluate existing systems with industry standards, and make recommendations for improvement
  • Learn from and mentor other passionate engineers with diverse skill sets in a collaborative team environment
  • Participate in on-call duties on a rotational basis

You Have...

  • Experience with scaling and monitoring networks spanning multiple continents 
  • 5+ years of Network Operations experience
  • A strong understanding of Linux systems, both high and low level
  • Proficiency with networking technologies (TCP/IP, routing, BGP, anycast). CCNA certification or above preferred
  • Proficiency in identifying and creating useful systems’ metrics needed to maintain performance and availability
  • Deep experience configuring and updating network switch hardware

Bonus Points...

  • Software development experience (automation, tooling)
  • Experience with cloud interconnectivity: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon AWS
  • Extensive experience with Arista platforms
