Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.
Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.
We're looking for a Senior Network Engineer to help transform and modernize Archer's enterprise network into a coherent, standards-driven, observable infrastructure. You'll be the technical anchor on a committed team — defining the architectural bar, driving consistency across campuses and sites, and building the automation and observability practices that let the team operate with confidence at scale. This is a tech lead role and you'll be the person the team looks to for design direction, peer review, and technical mentorship.
What You'll Do- Build, maintain, and support Archer's network infrastructure across campus, branch, data center, and SD-WAN cloud environments
- Own and drive network design standards — ensuring new sites are built right and existing sites are brought into conformance
- Lead architecture reviews for significant network changes; serve as the escalation point for complex design and troubleshooting decisions
- Plan, design, and implement LAN/WAN solutions including, NG Firewall (PAN), SD-WAN (Velocloud and Cisco SDWAN), defining and maintaining golden configurations across the environment
- Align with and contribute to Information Security strategy — including segmentation, zero-trust posture, and compliance requirements (SOX, ISO, and others)
- Design and maintain AWS networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Security Groups) and ensure consistent connectivity with on-prem and Prisma Access
- Drive adoption of network automation and infrastructure-as-code practices (Ansible, Python, Terraform)
- Build and own network observability: telemetry, alerting, and dashboards that give the team real signal without alert fatigue
- Support and troubleshoot network issues including after-hours escalations where required
- Research and document vendor and technology comparisons for cost, capability, and fit
- Mentor and elevate the engineers around you — good documentation, good peer reviews, helping the team level up
- Communicate clearly and credibly at all levels of the business
- Minimum 8 years of experience in an enterprise network engineering role supporting complex, multi-site hybrid environments
- Hands-on expertise with Palo Alto Networks — NGFW, Panorama, GlobalProtect, and Prisma Access; you've designed and operated these, not just maintained them
- Extensive experience with SD-WAN technologies, including Cisco and Velocloud SD-WAN
- Strong routing and switching fundamentals — BGP, OSPF, VXLAN/EVPN, L2/L3 switching, QoS, DHCP, DNS and spanning tree
- VLAN architecture and L3 segmentation design experience across multi-site environments
- Experience with Cisco, Ubiquiti, and HP/Aruba switching, wireless, and NAC solutions
- AWS networking experience (VPC, TGW, Direct Connect, security groups)
- Track record of driving network standards and consistency across a multi-site environment
- Hands-on installation, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure
- Ability to multitask and drive large-scale network project deliverables
- Experience introducing network automation (Ansible, Python, or similar) in an environment that had little or none
- Experience with IaC tooling (Terraform, Ansible) for network provisioning
- Exposure to network observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or similar)
- Excellent communication skills; ability to collaborate across IT and business teams
- CCNP or equivalent experience; CCIE or AWS Advanced Networking a plus
- Experience in a high-growth manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or compliance-heavy environment
